Our Mission

For many children, it is not easy to learn to read, to write, or to understand complex vocabulary and texts.

The mission of the Language, Literacy, and Emotional Outcomes (LEO) Lab is to improve the lives of individuals who struggle with language and literacy tasks, especially children with developmental language disorder and/or dyslexia.

Our Research

Specifically, the LEO Lab researches how the experience of having language and literacy difficulties may relate to emotional functioning and well-being.

We aim to:

1) Characterize the emotional experiences of individuals with language and literacy difficulties

2) Understand how and when emotional problems arise

3) Identify effective instructional practices that improve language and literacy skills while also supporting emotional well-being.
